Algeria: A Country Profile for U.S. Businesses
 |
"I will not dwell on the economic situation
in Algeria, on reforms already undertaken or being
implemented, or, on the favorable environment awaiting
foreign investors. The Corporate Council on Africa
already mentioned all that in its recent guide,
Algeria: A Country Profile for U.S.
Businesses,whose contents largely reflect
reality."
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika,
Prepared Speech, September 2000
A major emerging market for American investors,
Algeria is the world's tenth largest country in
area, the second largest exporter of liquefied natural
gas (LNG) and the largest importer of agricultural
products on the African continent. Algeria: A Country
Profile for U.S. Businesses, published in June 2000,
is the first American investor guide to the country.
Produced in coordination with the Corporate Council on
Africa's 2000 Trade Mission to Algeria, the 40-page
guide provides comprehensive macroeconomic and business
information, and contains profiles of principal growth
sectors and in-depth appendices. The guide also features
current American investments in the country.
