Final
Presentation
The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) held its second annual Africa Oil & Gas Forum in Houston, Texas from November
19-21, 2003. This
forum was designed for an audience of high level U.S. and
African energy industry representatives and dignitaries.
Africa stands on the brink on an
unprecedented oil boom. Global oil corporations are investing
billions of dollars into offshore and natural gas developments
to reap the benefits of the world's last large unexplored
energy frontier. The region offers what is potentially the
next major economic growth point in the world, based on
strategic energy supplies and other natural resources.
Africa's, especially West Africa, geographic location provides
accessibility to world markets; the region offers relatively
low labor and infrastructure costs, an almost 50% discovery
rate and, most significantly, the prospect of relative
strategic stability. All this action makes Africa one of the
hottest places for oil and gas exploration in the world and
U.S. companies are spearheading this rush for African energy
supplies.
