U.S.-Africa Business Summit
“Attracting Capital to Africa”
April 19-22, 1997
Chantilly, VA
Approximately 700 people gathered
at the Westfields Conference
Center in Chantilly, Virginia on
April 19-22, 1997 to participate
in an unprecedented event: The
Corporate Council on Africa's
"Attracting Capital to Africa"
Summit. This was the first major
conference hosted by the
five-year-old CCA. It was the
first time in the memory of
experienced Africa watchers that
an African business conference on
this scale had been attempted. The
1997 Summit brought together over
700 African and American
decision-makers, including five
African Heads of State, American
CEOs, Secretary of the Treasury
Robert Rubin, the President of the
World Bank, and The First Lady of
the United States Hillary Rodham
Clinton.
